Meet Adriana Tynor, she is HR Director at People More.

Tomasz Michalik: Adriana, what is the current situation for young people looking to start a career in IT?

Adriana Tynor: Young professionals entering the IT job market today are facing growing challenges. While the tech sector still offers numerous opportunities, I’ve noticed a decreasing willingness among companies to hire candidates without significant experience – especially in fields that were previously in high demand, such as software development and testing.

T: Tell me more about these challenges.

A: The biggest challenge is the competition with experienced specialists. Companies increasingly prefer hiring professionals who can immediately contribute to projects rather than investing time in training newcomers. Besides, IT is a rapidly evolving industry, which means professionals must continuously learn and adapt to new trends.

T: Since we’re talking about trends, how do their changes impact job opportunities for junior developers?

A: We can clearly see that demand in IT is shifting toward fields like AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and software development. According to the report What’s up with Eldorado? Salaries and Expectations in IT 2024/2025, published by JustJoin.IT and N-iX, the number of IT job postings has dropped by 9%, and only around 5% of job offers were for junior positions. At the same time, demand for specialists with several or even a dozen years of experience in senior roles has grown – from 49.5% to nearly 51.5%.

For young professionals looking to stand out, expanding their skill sets in these high-demand areas is crucial. One great way to do this is through initiatives like Blockchain4Youth, which provide both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in IT.

T: What exactly is the Blockchain4Youth program?

A: It’s definitely something worth looking into! Blockchain4Youth is an initiative launched by Bitget to educate and support young professionals in blockchain and Web3 technologies. Participants gain access to multi-stage training, mentorship from experienced specialists, and opportunities to work on advanced projects. On top of that, the most promising participants may secure a permanent position in an international company.

T: Is it really worth joining such programs?

A: Let me turn that question around – is it worth learning new things? Absolutely! Participating in programs like Blockchain4Youth allows young professionals to gain valuable skills and hands-on experience in blockchain and Web3, making them more competitive in the job market. And trust me, I know what I’m talking about – I review CVs every day. Beyond that, such initiatives help build connections with industry experts and provide access to the latest trends and technologies.

T: What advice do you have for young people entering the IT industry?

A: Patience, humility, and forward momentum. But let’s break it down into more practical advice:

  • Continuous Learning – IT evolves fast, so constantly updating your knowledge and skills is essential. Investing time in new technologies and tools will always pay off.
  • Participating in Educational Programs – Programs like Blockchain4Youth provide hands-on experience, which employers highly value.
  • Networking – IT is a people-driven industry. Attending conferences, workshops, and meetups can help you build relationships with specialists and unlock new career opportunities.
  • Being Open to Feedback – As a junior, you’ll often receive constructive criticism from more experienced colleagues. Take it as a learning opportunity rather than a personal attack.
  • Adaptability – Technology doesn’t stand still. Being open to change and ready to adapt is key to long-term success.
  • Gaining Practical Experience – Internships, open-source projects, and personal initiatives help you develop real-world skills that make your resume stand out.

T: One last question – how is AI affecting the IT job market?

A: AI is transforming the IT industry at an incredible pace. On one hand, automation is replacing some of the simpler tasks that junior developers used to handle, meaning entry-level positions require more advanced skills. While programming fundamentals are still essential, juniors now also need to understand how to integrate AI into different software solutions.

On the other hand, AI is creating new career opportunities. The demand for specialists in machine learning, data analysis, and AI training is skyrocketing.

T: Thanks for the conversation! Fingers crossed for all the young talents out there!
